The Richard Mille RM 65-01 McLaren W1 is a remarkable fusion of automotive and horological art, born from a collaboration with British supercar manufacturer McLaren. This fourth masterpiece takes inspiration from the McLaren W1 supercar, showcasing an innovative design with a nod to speed and elegance.
The watch features a barrel-shaped case inspired by the graceful lines of the W1 supercar. With an ‘inner convex outer concave’ contour, the watch exhibits a unique dual-layer bezel. The top layer is crafted from Carbon TPT® fiber, giving each case a distinctive texture, while the bottom layer is polished Grade 5 titanium, with its thinnest part measuring just 0.5mm. The chronograph buttons are made from Carbon TPT® fiber, and the titanium crown is wrapped with orange rubber for enhanced tactility.
The skeletonized titanium dial draws inspiration from the W1 supercar’s wheel rims, with colorful accents reminiscent of a car’s dashboard. The hour, minute, and small seconds hand at 6 o’clock are decorated in yellow, while the 30-minute and 12-hour chronograph dials feature orange accents, and the stopwatch second scale is highlighted in blue. A vertical date window is positioned at 11 o’clock on the dial.
Powered by the RMAC4 automatic movement, the watch boasts a 60-hour power reserve. Both the baseplate and bridges of this movement are crafted from Grade 5 titanium, ensuring precision up to 1/10th of a second.
The rubber strap is available in two color options: black and orange, featuring streamlined patterns inspired by the aerodynamic design of the W1’s engine hood vents.
