At the 2023 Watches & Wonders Geneva event, IWC has once again captured the hearts of watch enthusiasts with the release of the new Ingenieur collection. This latest model pays homage to the iconic Ref. 1832 designed by Gérald Genta in the 1970s. Talk about a blast from the past with a modern twist!

The watch features a 40mm case that skillfully combines vertical and circular brushing with polished mirror-like surfaces, creating a soft and smooth contour. With a thickness of just 10.7mm, it’s sleek enough to slide under any cuff.

The bezel is securely fastened with five screws, while the reimagined ergonomics of the H-shaped bracelet and lugs ensure it fits comfortably on the wrist. This watch is all about comfort without sacrificing style.

One of the standout features of this timepiece is the dial’s recreation of the original Ingenieur SL’s ‘grid’ pattern. This intricate design is pressed into an iron base, then zinc-treated, giving it a unique textured look that plays with light. The pattern covers the inner section of the dial, while the outer minute ring remains smooth for a sharp contrast.

The IWC logo has been carefully aligned with the grid pattern for a harmonious look. Night visibility is a breeze, thanks to the luminous markers ensuring clarity in the dark.

With a classic three-hand layout, hour markers, and a seconds hand that echo the 1970s style, the dial also features a date window at 3 o’clock and the ‘INGENIEUR’ signature at 6 o’clock.

Boasting a newly molded stainless steel bracelet that mirrors the original in terms of material, craftsmanship, and wearability – it’s like stepping back in time but with all the modern comforts.

V7 Factory uses the imported Swiss SW300 movement renowned for its precision and reliability. There’s also a more budget-friendly option with the Sea-Gull 2892 version, which mirrors the Swiss model in every detail.
