Franck Muller has unveiled a fascinating new timepiece, the Grand Central Tourbillon. What sets this watch apart is its unique ‘central tourbillon’ feature, where the tourbillon takes the spotlight at the center of the dial, slowly rotating and mesmerizing anyone who gazes at it.
The Cintrée Curvex tonneau-shaped case has been meticulously redesigned with sleek, flowing lines. The crystal gracefully extends from end to end, reaching the lugs, creating a broad and spacious dial. Made from carbon fiber, the case showcases intricate textures with black and gray stripes, offering a look that is both captivatingly elegant and abstractly casual.
The lacquered dial is paired with bold, oversized Arabic numeral hour markers, and a guilloche pattern spreads from the center in a spiral design, echoing the tourbillon’s rotation. With the tourbillon taking center stage, the watch’s gear system has been ingeniously modified, allowing the hands to mount on the edge of the tourbillon, seemingly floating above the dial.
Inside, the watch is powered by Franck Muller’s in-house FM CX 40T-CTR automatic winding movement, featuring a frequency of 28,800 vph and an impressive power reserve of up to four days. Completing the watch is a fluoro rubber strap with tailored nylon and a fold-over clasp with a brushed finish for an added touch of sophistication.
This release not only highlights Franck Muller’s dedication to innovative watchmaking but also offers watch enthusiasts a chance to appreciate a blend of art, mechanics, and design in one stunning timepiece.
