The arrival of the GR enhanced version of the Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref.5226G-001 has made waves among watch enthusiasts. This classic timepiece is now available with an upgraded luminous feature, offering exceptional night visibility.
Known for its smooth and rounded case design, the Patek Philippe Calatrava series has always been a staple in luxurious watchmaking. The Ref.5226G-001 revamps this iconic model by incorporating the classic Clous de Paris hobnail pattern along the side of the case, a motif that first appeared in the 2021 Calatrava series version Ref.6119. The innovative case design seamlessly integrates the lugs with the case back, ensuring a fully wrapped hobnail pattern around the sides.
The charcoal gray dial exudes a vintage charm with a subtle black gradient at the edges, resembling the textured surface of antique camera casings. Complementing the dial are white gold appliqué numerals, coated with a beige luminous layer, and understated “railway” minute markers. The white gold syringe hands also feature a beige luminescent coating, and the date window at the 3 o’clock position has beige numerals against a black background.
At the heart of this impressive timepiece is the modified 9015 Cal.26-330 S C movement. Its meticulously crafted bridges and plates are adorned with fish scale and Geneva stripe patterns, while gold engravings and polished screws reflect Patek Philippe’s signature dual ‘P’ insignia. This attention to detail ensures the movement closely mirrors the genuine article.
Two interchangeable straps accompany the new Ref.5226G-001 model. One is a beige suede calfskin strap, while the other is a black calfskin with embossed patterns and beige stitching. Both straps come with white gold buckles and a quick release system, allowing for easy strap changes.
With the discontinuation of the 5296, Patek Philippe fills the gap with this elegant three-hand watch, combining classic elegance with a touch of awe.
