The Richard Mille RM 27-02 is a marvel of watchmaking, designed specifically for the legendary tennis player, Rafael Nadal. This sporty tourbillon wristwatch boasts an ultra-lightweight case and exceptional stability, capable of withstanding the immense acceleration during ball strikes. During the Rio Olympics men’s 400m final, South African athlete Wayde van Niekerk wore this timepiece as he crossed the finish line to win gold.
Inspired by racing chassis, Richard Mille has revolutionized the movement with an integrated design of a skeletonized baseplate and case, significantly enhancing impact resistance. Collaborating with North Thin Ply Technology, they developed the ultra-light, tough quartz fiber case material, giving the watch a rugged Damascus steel-like texture while remaining feather-light.
The watch’s sapphire crystal allows a clear view of the intricate movement, featuring a floating tourbillon at 6 o’clock and Richard Mille’s exclusive fast-rotating barrel at 12 o’clock, providing a power reserve of up to 52 hours with a 20% increase in energy efficiency during the initial winding phase.
The white bezel is secured with 12 titanium grade 5 screws, complemented by an orange strap and red crown. For enhanced readability, the ends of the hour and minute hands are highlighted in bright orange.
The Richard Mille RM 27-02 watch features a full carbon fiber case, sapphire crystal caseback, carbon fiber dial, floating tourbillon movement, 19 jewels, power reserve hours, woven strap, titanium buckle, and water resistance of up to 50 meters. It is a testament to complex watch functions with its tourbillon feature.
