In 2023, at Watches & Wonders Geneva, IWC released a new generation of Ingenieur watches. Designed by the legendary Gérald Genta, this timepiece pays homage to the classic Ref. 1832 model from the 1970s.
The 40mm case showcases a blend of vertical brushing, circular brushing, and mirror polishing, creating smoother and more graceful contours. With a thickness of just 10.7mm, it’s a sleek addition to any wristwatch collection.
The bezel is secured with five screws, and the ergonomically redesigned lugs and H-link bracelet ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist. A standout feature of this model is the dial, which reintroduces the original Ingenieur SL’s ‘grid’ pattern, crafted through stamping on an iron base and finishing with galvanization. This intricate pattern covers the dial’s inner area, while the outer section, encircling the minute scale, remains smooth. The IWC logo has been precisely adjusted in proportion and position, aligning seamlessly with the grid design. Luminous markers ensure readability in low-light conditions.
The dial layout includes hour, minute, and second hands reminiscent of the 1970s style, with a date window at 3 o’clock and the ‘INGENIEUR’ inscription at 6 o’clock. The new steel bracelet has been meticulously crafted to match the original in structure, material, craftsmanship, and wearing experience.
The V7 factory continues using the Swiss-imported SW300 movement, known for its excellent performance and precision, offering trouble-free wear. Additionally, a more budget-friendly Seagull 2892 version is available, which mirrors the Swiss variant in appearance.
The perfect masterpiece from V7 is now available, awaiting your appreciation.
