The GR-enhanced night-luminous version of the Patek Philippe Classic Watches Series Ref. 5226G-001 has arrived, featuring a 40mm size. Known for its smooth and refined case shape, the Patek Philippe Calatrava series has been reimagined, reintroducing the renowned Clous de Paris pattern on the case side. This classic Patek Philippe element was seen in the 2021 Calatrava Clous de Paris watch, Ref. 6119.
The designers have crafted a unique case structure that seamlessly integrates the lugs with the case back, allowing the Clous de Paris pattern to cover the entire case side. The charcoal gray dial, with its black gradient border, evokes a vintage aesthetic reminiscent of antique camera cases. It features white gold applied numerals with a beige luminous coating and understated ‘rail-style’ second markings. The syringe-shaped white gold hour and minute hands are also coated with a beige luminous layer. A date window is situated at the 3 o’clock position, featuring beige numerals on a black background.
The watch is powered by a modified Cal.26-330 S C movement from the 9015 caliber. The movement bridges are chamfered and intricately polished, with fish scale and Geneva wave patterns adorning the larger plates. Engravings in gold on the bridge surfaces and meticulously polished and chamfered screw slots exhibit exquisite detail. Additionally, it bears the iconic Patek Philippe double P insignia, reflecting unparalleled authenticity.
This new Ref. 5226G-001 model offers interchangeable strap options, including a beige suede calfskin and a black calfskin strap with embossed patterns and beige stitching. Both straps come with a white gold buckle and a quick-release mechanism for easy strap replacement. With the discontinuation of the model 5296, this elegant yet striking three-hand timepiece perfectly fills the gap in Patek Philippe’s genuine collection.
