Returning to my village during the New Year is always an adventure. Last year, I decided to sport a dazzling watch covered in diamonds. Did they know if I had struck it rich? Who knows! But with all those sparkling stones, it sure got their attention.

Everyone was eager to catch up and, as expected, they invited me for drinks. Now, when villagers say ‘drinks’, they mean serious business. We kicked off the festivities on New Year’s Eve and, surprisingly—or maybe not—those celebratory toasts continued until the fifteenth day of the New Year! That’s quite a marathon for my liver.

This year, as I prepare for another journey back home, the diamond-studded timepiece is ready to accompany me once again. The question is, am I ready for another round of endless village hospitality?
